Mint Society is in Dallas and we got to explore one of Texas’ best city! The newest home of Bravo’s housewives' franchise and the site of some the most influential fashion bloggers – including one of the OG’s, Courtney Kerr. Our first stop after checking into the most charming Air Bnb’s we could have asked for - was going to be food. Everyone told us that the Deep Ellum was going to be our hot spot and they were not kidding. Pizza is always high on our list, and if we’re talking about wood fire ovens – we’re in.
Cane Rosso was our place. Settled in the heart of the Deep Ellum, this black, brick building was an eclectic, intimate setting that had the aromas of every pizza dream you’ve ever had. The menu was simple, fresh and authentic. We started with local ciders courtesy of Bishop Cider Co. – Patricio chose the Nectar, a combo of pacific northwest apples and local Texas honey. This was smooth, and truly like its given name. I had the Crackberry – which I thought was just going to be an addicting concoction, but rather the name comes from the mix of blackberries and cranberries – there’s your ‘a-ha moment’ for the week. No less addicting – this is the perfect drink for sitting on the patio during the summer.
I don’t think we’ve ever been to a pizza parlor where we had such a hard time picking a pizza – or even two. To give us time we went with the Mozzarella Fritta to start. This was an elevated mozzarella stick with the freshest marina sauce. This authentic mozzarella was gooey and chewy, and because of it’s freshness – didn’t harden after two minutes out of the fryer (aka SONIC – no shade). These little treats gave us some time to decide upon the namesake pizza, the Cane Rosso and the Delia. If you want to send us a thank you present, we’re really in need of some cool pool floats for the summer. These two pizzas were comprised of some of the freshest, most unique ingredients we’ve had --- and here’s the deal, Patricio is now committed to a once a month Dallas trip after having the bacon marmalade on the Delia. These pizzas are truly crave-worthy. We can’t say enough about the wonderful staff, the great location and how cozy this restaurant is. If the rest of the food scene in Dallas lives up to Cane Rosso – we’re in good hands.
