We’re not going to name names here – but there’s a certain place around town that should take notice of a new addition to the North West (not affiliated with Kim or Kanye) corner of San Antonio. Kneaders is opening up this week and is already a fan-favorite if you’ve been lucky enough to venture to the Stone Oak location. Patricio and I are not of that lucky club – and we can tell you after our first visit for their media preview, we’re officially Kneaders Fanatics.
Kneaders was the dream of Gary and Colleen Worthington, who started their first bakery & café in Orem, UT to showcase their artisanal European hearth breads. We were lucky enough to meet them and listen to their story of how each loaf is baked in-house, from scratch, using the water and air of the cities their bakeries are in. This may not seem like such a big deal, but considering most of the bakeries we know and love use freezer-to-oven bread, this is a huge deal. Gary and Colleen aim to stay true to the cities they’re in – Even their curated jams are pulled from Texas markets. They’re huge supporters of the communities they enter, and are even partnering with the local W.H Taft High School to donate 10% of profits during opening to their Project Graduation this year.
They make the bread in-house, their ingredients are unique and fresh, and we’re pretty sure we could come here for breakfast, lunch and dinner for a week and never get bored or run out of delicious delectables to try. You can even take loaves, jams and spreads home with you. They have 12 different breads, 42 tasty pastries and other savory dishes that have already become the favorites of those in 5 other states.
The feeling you get at Kneaders is one of being in your own kitchen – The staff is polite and accommodating, and Colleen and Gary made it seem like they had known all of us for years, even sending us home with freshly baked baguettes. Kneaders is all about quality food, a great environment, and most importantly taking care of their customers. Not convinced yet? We hear the Banana Cream Pie French Toast is life altering – and you can snag a plate starting Friday, August 26th in Alamo Ranch.
