“What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By Any Other Name would smell as sweet.”
– Romeo and Juliet
And would a blog by any other name, feel like me? The answer at its core is – I don’t know. For those who have only been with @mintsociety for a short while, this blog was actually a duo way back with my creative other half and closest friends. It was formulated in a Gap breakroom and blossomed into something grand and meaningful to the both of us. When someone asked what Mint Society meant, we could easily say it was two perspectives – one minimal, one whimsical. We talked about fashions, travel, lifestyle and it worked. But at the core, Mint Society isn’t mine and it’s always felt like something was missing, and I want a name that encompasses my passions, and when you hear it, feels like “Oh! Got it!” Read More
2018 Holiday Gift Guide
It’s here. Hold the phones. Grab those wallets. Spruce up your creative wrapping skills - because the most stressful albeit wonderful time of the year is here. I wanted to create super-curated Gift Guides that are a representation of some of the most creative, fun and not traditional gifts you can give to your Friends & Family this season.
I’ll be adding weekly - so make sure you are following me on LiketoKnow.it (@mintsociety) and on Instagram (@mintsociety) to stay up to date!
If you’ve been following me for awhile, I hope you’ve realized that i’m fiercely supportive of equal rights and ensuring women of all backgrounds, religions, cultures are supported. This year’s Midterm Elections yielded over 100 women to the House of Representatives who (no pun intended) are true representatives of the diversity of the United States. Read More

t’s been 10 years since I cast my first vote for Barack Obama. He ran when I was 18-years-old and I felt so lucky, and so energized throughout that campaign. I donated the little money I had, I made calls for his campaign in my tiny dorm room in Denton, TX – and then he won. I remember waking up on November 5, 2008 feeling like joy was radiating out of my body. The sun was shining brighter, hope for the good was coming to the surface and I thought that everything that Martin Luther King Jr, John and Bobby Kennedy, John Lewis and many others had fought for was coming true. And it was. Americans had voted for change. And we did it again in 2012.
Our favorite DIY-inspired brewers at Craft-A-Brew are back at it again – This time with Make Your Own Wine kits. Did you catch that. MAKE. YOUR. OWN. WINE. Dreams have come true – and we were so excited when the kit showed up on our door step. A few months ago we were lucky to try the Hard Cider kit and fell in love with the process of getting to make our own spirits, and were even more in love with the abundance of booze we had in the fridge for cocktails Read More
Teeth Whitening. Some are lucky to have naturally white teeth – but if you know Patricio and I, our favorite drinks are of the darker variety and our teeth are prime targets for stains. So when we were lucky enough to stumble upon Smile Brilliant, we were immediately intrigued after seeing the before and after photos along with the super simplistic process teeth are whitened. While Patricio is lucky enough to have a dentist for a sister and has access to incredible whitening kits, I opt for the drug store brands when I’m in need of going lighter – and trust me, drug store brands are no easy fleet. They’re sticky, they come off, you have to do this weird mouth breathing exercise so they don’t come off. It’s super uncomfortable, and after just a few times, you’re bound to give up. Read More
Watches can be understated and most of all – under appreciated. Especially when their true function has been taken over by the other technologies like your phone. But, watches are the classic accessory – and are only getting better as fashion continues to evolve. And with the Holidays coming up, we’ve put together a comprehensive gift-guide of some of our favorite watches for every friend in your life. Read More
As a child (okay, even now) there’s not a lot of things that are as refreshing as an Icee in the summer. Seriously, whatever way you choose to drink yours – Cherry, white cherry, coke, white cherry + coke combo swirl – The combinations go on. Well, what if we told you there was a whole new version of an Icee? The adult version that is sure to be your new summer staple. Forget rosé all day – try frosé all summer (and maybe the first half of Fall too). Frosé has hit a popularity like no other during the Summer of 2016, and we’re making our own this Labor Day weekend as we officially say goodbye to Summer. Read More
So we’re starting a new movement – Sangria Saturdays (if it hasn’t already been started). If it has, we are definitely late to the party, but happy to be here anyway. We wanted to put together another recipe featuring Craft a Brew’s Hard Cider, and this one is a summer afternoon winner. It’s super ‘healthy’ in the fact that it has a ton of fruit in it, like seriously fruit salad-worthy amounts of fruit. Read More
Bellini's were once the delicious staple at Italian restaurants and wedding showers. But as time goes one we're seeing bellini's become a great alternative to sangrias and margaritas -- and not to mention, they're incredibly easy to make. Read More
There’s a few things we love … tequila, gin, French 75’s and if you’re Patricio, Prickly Pear Margaritas. Beer rarely makes our list, but we’re always open to a good brew, especially if it’s made in-house … a-la Southerleigh. So when we discovered Craft-A-Brew, we were certainly hesitant, but open to the idea of making our own Hard Cider. Read More
When it came to the understanding of accessories making an outfit, I didn’t realize this key lesson in life until a few years into college. But when I discovered what a good statement earring could do for an outfit – It became priority. I have a few go-to’s for good jewelry – And honestly, the only jewelry I have worn for the past five years has been from J.Crew. So when Rocksbox reached out to be apart of their Influencer squad I was hesitant about a subscription service for curated jewelry. You’re probably questioning what about that sentence was my hesitation – and you’re right. Curated pieces of jewelry sent to your door every month to try-out? Where could I go wrong? Read More
The Michelada is to San Antonio what the Cosmopolitan was to Sex and the City (hope you all still get that reference) – and everyone has their own recipe for this backyard mainstay. Don Chelada makes your favorite drink even easier with their to-go cups and michelada mix. Don Chelada is a company located in San Antonio, so you can feel good if you’re trying to support local businesses – You can find their products in Krogers, Wal-Mart and 7-11 – but their list continues to grow. Sprinkles, donuts, milkshakes, sugar … Do any of those sound like a bad way to spend an afternoon? We thought not. Our latest M.I.Y involves all of the above combined for the sweetest treat you can have this summer. Tea and espresso – two beverages guaranteed found in my hand throughout the day. There are certain responsibilities you have once you become an aficionado of these two drinks – the right equipment, knowledge of the best product, and a desire to find different ways to consume. Most Teavana teas have been in my teacup at some point, and making matcha has become second nature. On a warm day, nothing is better than an espresso affogato – that was until we swapped out the richness of those shots for bright, light matcha. Read More
